Study: Subsidised housing as an investment

Subsidised housing has established itself as a separate investment segment within the housing market. While hardly any transactions were recorded until about six years ago, their number has been rising steadily ever since. This is the result of the study "Subsidised housing as an investment", which was prepared by bulwiengesa on behalf of INDUSTRIA. The interest rate turnaround makes investments in subsidised housing more attractive compared to privately financed housing.

Measured in terms of the number of units traded, transactions in subsidised housing have increased steadily since 2016. The peak to date has been reached in 2021 with just under 8,000 units traded. Around three quarters of the transactions consisted of both subsidised and privately financed flats, while 18 percent were purely subsidised flats.
